Discover Things to do on Holiday in Thailand
The kingdom of Thailand lies in the Indochina region and is it known as “the land of smiles”. It is a fascinating country where the Ancient East meets the modern West and where respect for the Monarchy and religion sit side by side with the bright lights of the Bangkok nightlife.
A good way to get the best of both worlds, is to combine a 2-3 night stay in colourful Bangkok followed by pure relaxation at a beach resort. Try different variations of transportation to get around Bangkok from taxi (the traffic system has to be seen to be believed), and the impressive Skyrail system, to the 'hop-on-hop-off' Ferry stops and the crazy midnight Tuk tuks! Bangkok has some excellent attractions including its many temples with their awe-inspiring architecture and glittering decoration. The best time to visit the temples is in the morning so you avoid the heat of the day and the crowds. Then, there are the palaces and mansions which reflect Bangkok's rich heritage, of which the spectacular Grand Palace, is the city's most famous landmark. In the former grounds of the 18th Century Wang Na Palace, The National Museum (one of many) is also well worth a visit, as it houses the largest collection of Thai art and artifacts in the country.
...and leave one spare evening for a drink at the Vertigo Grill & Moon Bar. 61 floors up and above the streets of Bangkok, on the roof of the Banyan Tree Hotel, these views are fairly unbeatable and the champagne isn't bad either!
Follow this with a wonderful beach holiday somewhere like
Cha-am, which you can reach by road transfer from Bangkok, or if you don't mind flying, Phuket is
superb any time of year with its abundance of beaches, parks and forests to explore and fantastic dining and nightlife. Wherever you choose, you are sure to be spoilt for choice and by the world-class hospitality that the Thai Beach Resorts are famous for.
